Larry Ashley was an innovative trainer with the NHL Vancouver Canucks for 14 seasons. He was a founding member of the Professional Athletic Trainers Society and was a former President of the NHL’s Trainers Association.
Ashley was also called upon to act as a trainer in two NHL All-Star Games and served as Team Canada trainer on three occasions. He passed away on September 16th. 1995 at the age of 42 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
The Canucks Alumni hosts annual hockey and golf events with proceeds going to the Larry Ashley Scholarship Fund. The BC Hockey Hall of Fame awards an annual plaque in memory of Larry Ashley to trainers and members of the medical profession that assist with Hockey in B.C.
