BC Hockey Hall of Fame recognizes the importance of supporting, promoting and giving back to the hockey community throughout the season, the BCHHOF encourages associations or individuals to submit worthy nominations from around the respective province, leading to the announcement at the July Induction Ceremony

Our Election Categories

  • Sportsmanship, character, contributions and playing ability to the team or teams associated with during his or her playing career
  • Permanent resident in British Columbia for a period of ten (10) ears during the relevant part of his or her career
  • Born or developed his or her skill while a permanent resident in British Columbia but may also have gone elsewhere during their career and achieved greatness
  • Player  must not of played or have retired from playing in a professional game for one (1) season prior to election
  • The Board of Directors have the right to waive the mandatory one (1) year waiting period for induction in the Player Category under certain humanitarian circumstances or won a Gold Medal in International Olympic Competition
  • Sportsmanship, character, contributions and playing ability to the team or teams associated with during his or her playing career
  • Permanent resident in British Columbia for a period of ten (10) ears during the relevant part of his or her career
  • Born or developed his or her skill while a permanent resident in British Columbia but may also have gone elsewhere during their career and achieved greatness
  • Builder Category is comprised of a person who directs athletes in a leadership capacity such as in managerial or executive level, coaching, trainer, or medical field, media, administrator, volunteer or ability in another significant off-ice role
  • Evaluated on their personal achievements, awards or accomplishments, character in their community of British Columbia or in the sport of hockey
  • Born or developed his or her skill level while a permanent resident in British Columbia but may have gone elsewhere during their career and achieved greatness, may be active or inactive to be considered and shall be evaluated for outstanding effort over a period of the required ten (10) years but not necessarily consecutive
  • Any British Columbia basted team able bodied or teams with athletes with disabilities that achieved a victorious title at the National or International Level
  • The nucleus of the team must be retired from National competition before the team is eligible
  • The team will be evaluated on its overall achievements, awards, on the contributions to the organization and community as well to the game of hockey

Bursaries and Awards

Awarded to help young players advance their education, to a person or persons who has shown perseverance and dedication to both hockey and schooling with the desire to advance their education.

 Presented annually to a volunteer who exemplifies their dedication to-and the enjoyment of the game of amateur hockey that were significant, of lasting impact and generally, above and beyond.

The Larry Ashley Award is a humanitarian award and is presented each year to an individual who has demonstrated a commitment to community sports by helping young players in achieving their goals and aspirations. Those eligible for the award are trainers or equipment managers – professional or amateur.

The pioneer award is presented annually, with no specific categories in hockey, rewarded for past achievements to an individual who has contributed substantially to the growth, or paved the way for the future, a person who has produced a high impact on the game as a reward for past achievements.

The Bernie Pascall Award is presented annually to an individual in the media who demonstrates commitment and dedication to the promotion within the game.

In the memory of Pat Quinn, the coach award is presented annually to an individual regardless of their level of coaching that help and share excellence by educating players in the sport of hockey.

Our proprietary Minor Hockey Player of the Year Award program honour individuals who best exemplify sportsmanship & leadership, hockey ability & performance, and school & community participation, serving as inspiring role models for people involved in or interested in hockey.
